ST. LOUIS YOUTH HOCKEY FOUNDATION
2022-2023 GRANTS TO PLAYERS
The St. Louis Youth Hockey Foundation announced it has awarded 14 grants to young players in the local hockey community for this upcoming season. These grants, also called merit-based scholarships, have been created to help young players and their families who face financial difficulties in continuing to play hockey.
“Hockey is one of the most expensive team sports and our foundation’s mission is to help those who face having to either stop playing, or play at a lower, less-expensive skill level due to financial constraints” said Kristin Heffington, President of the organization. “We are gratified to be able to help more young players this season than ever before. We have had successful fund-raising events, and recently support from the St. Louis Blues. We are optimistic about being able to help many more young players next year and in the future.”
The grants are paid to the player’s hockey club to help cover their expenses. In return for the grant, the St. Louis Youth Hockey Foundation asks the players to perform community service and pay it forward.
